McLeods Daughters - Season 5, Episode 12: The Pearl
TrailerJodi is excited about her growing love for Luke, unaware that at the same time he is making a deal with a local criminal to deliver stolen cigars. When a policeman chases after Luke for speeding, he is forced to transfer the contraband to the back of Stevie's Ute and she unwittingly takes off with it before Luke can stop her. When Stevie discovers the cigars she burns them immediately, despite Jodi's protests that there must be an innocent explanation. Kate and Stevie are put in the uncomfortable position of keeping this mess from Tess. And Stevie, her own relationship with a Morgan not far from her mind, clashes with Jodi over Luke - he's no good as far as Stevie is concerned. When Luke finds out the cigars are gone, he knows he is in trouble - he now owes eight grand to Rick Burns. Luke promises a concerned Jodi that he will extricate himself from the criminal's grasp. But his problems escalate when Burns' boss Chambers pressures Luke to deliver a consignment of illegal drugs. For Luke, drugs are beyond the pale, but he feels trapped in the criminal web. Jodi doggedly defends Luke's integrity to Stevie and Alex, who are both concerned about the poor decisions these young lovers are making. But when Jodi learns that Luke has not been entirely truthful with her, she confronts him. Luke admits he has had further dealings with the criminals, but withholds the information about the drugs. Jodi convinces Luke to extricate himself once and for all. But when Chambers makes a thinly veiled threat against Jodi's safety, Luke decides his only option is to flee Gungellan, even though it means breaching his court order and running from the criminals. Jodi insists on coming with him and the young lovers formulate a desperate and romantic plan to move to Broome. During all this, Detective Montello has been on the trail of Rick and his ring of thieves and Luke is the weakest link. He questions Luke and when that doesn't get him anywhere he pressures Jodi, telling her that Luke could be involved in drugs, but if he comes clean he can save himself a lot of jail time. Stevie urges Jodi to distance herself from Luke, but Jodi needs to give one final chance. She rushes to the truckstop and is shattered to discover the drugs hidden in Luke's wardrobe. Jodi cries on Stevie's shoulder, heartbroken, and Stevie, Tess and Kate support her as she makes the hardest decision of her life - she turns Luke in. But she cannot let him go through it alone and drives to the truckstop, passing a fatal car accident on the way. Jodi collapses when she sees the car is Luke's. Jodi's despair turns to joy when she realises the driver was Rick Burns and Luke is safe, having turned himself in on his own. They embrace before Montello leads Luke away to face the music.Genre: DramaActors: Aaron Jeffery, Rachael Carpani, Simmone Mackinnon, Bridie Carter, Myles Pollard, Michala Banas, Sonia Todd, Brett Tucker, John Jarratt, Doris Younane, Marshall Napier, ...»Director: Richard Jasek, Arnie Custo, Grant Brown, Steve Mann, Ian Watson, Steve Jodrell, Declan Eames, Andrew Prowse, Nicholas BufaloCountry: AustraliaDuration: 45 minQuality: SDRelease: 2005IMDb: 7.30 CommentsSort By- Newest
