Scott Linehan was born in Sunnyside, Washington on September 17, 1963. He and his wife, Kristen, have three sons, Matthew, Michael, and Marcus. Linehan began his football career as a quarterback at the University of Idaho in the early 80 winning the Big Sky Championship in 1985 and earning Division I-AA playoff appearances three straight times Linehan signed with the Dallas Cowboys in 1987 as a rookie free agent, but his pro playing career would never come to fruition as a shoulder injury ended his playing career.Despite the injury setback, Linehan was determined to continue on the path of football by coaching at the collegiate level. He spent four season with his alma mater at Idaho before moving to the University of Washington where he spent five seasons, leading the team to four bowl games and winning the 1995 Pac-10 title. He had short stints at UNLV and Louisville before making his NFL coaching debut with the Minnesota Vikings in 2002 as the team's offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach. While with Minnesota, Linehan improved the Vikings' rushing production from 1,609 yards and 4.3 average in 2001 to a league best 2,507 yards and 5.3 average in 2002. Linehan joined the Miami Dolphins in 2005 where he spent a season before heading to St. Louis to become the Head Coach of the St. Louis Rams. In 2009 Linehan took his experience to Detroit where he spent the next five seasons serving as the Lions' offensive coordinator, bolstering the team's offensive output helping the Lions finish sixth in the NFL in total yards, third in passing yards in the NFL.Linehan's skill and experience was sought after by the Dallas Cowboys and he joined the team as the club's game passing coordinator. He quickly moved to offensive coordinator in 2015 and has held the position ever since. In his first season in Dallas, Linehan called an offense that led the 2014 Cowboys to an NFL best tying 12-4 record, the club's 22nd Division title, their 31st post season appearance, and the Cowboys' 34th playoff win. During his time with the Cowboys, Linehan has developed the Dallas offense to a formidable offensive line that includes players Dak Prescott, Ezekiel Elliot, Dez Bryant, and Jason Witten.
